This was one of my favorite wines from the 1989 vintage, so I am delighted to report that the 1990 is easily as good. The wines of Bergerac, the appellation just to the east of Pomerol, tend to be light and fruity, but this is a surprisingly intense blend of 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon. The big bouquet of rich, intense fruit and flowers is followed by a crisp, lively, ripe, exuberantly styled dry white wine that is oh so easy to drink. It saddens me that more wines such as this are not readily found in the marketplace, because they have that rare virtue of pleasing both neophytes and connoisseurs. A great value!
