Costanti's super-concentrated, formidably-endowed, backward 1993 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is nearly impenetrable. The color is dark ruby with purple nuances. With coaxing, notes of black fruits, licorice, smoke, dried herbs, and scorched earth come forth. Extremely full-bodied, with superb purity, and mouth-searing tannin, this immense but undeniably backward, charmless wine demands 4-5 years of cellaring. It should keep for at least two decades.
