The 2015 Chablis 1Er Cru Montmains has a very simple, one-dimensional bouquet, with grapefruit and passion fruit scents—certainly, it lacks mineral tension. The palate is actually better: rounded and rather honeyed with lower acidity, yet pleasant passion fruit and pineapple notes on the commercial finish that goes for mass appeal rather than distinction. I must confess that I expected more from this and prefer some of the domaine's other 2015s.
