The deep ruby-hued 2004 Pinot Noir Melville Vineyard reminds me of a young Richebourg or Grands Echezeaux from the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. It boasts wonderful aromas of sweet forest floor, strawberry jam, black cherries, and flowers. In the mouth, notions of plums, cloves, and sweet cherries are presented in a broad, savory style with enormous richness and concentration, but no sense of heaviness. It should drink well for a decade or more. Tel. (805) 735-9184
