Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Maltroie has a clean, delineated bouquet with lime flower, orange blossom and mineral notes that blossom with aeration. Here, the oak is very well integrated - the class and breeding evident from first sniff. The palate is fresh and poised, touches of lemon sherbet and even a tang of marmalade energising the long finish. This is a very well crafted Chassagne-Montrachet that should drink well over the next 12 to 15 years - a great wine from one of Chassagne's stars.
