The 2008 Viognier Estate was barrel-fermented in neutral oak, went through full malolactic fermentation, and was aged sur lie with batonnage. It sports an enticing nose of mineral, peach, apricot, and floral notes leading to an intense, creamy-textured, spicy wine with outstanding volume and length. It will offer much pleasure over the next 2-3 years. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, continuity and consistency are the keys to Cristom’s success. The winemaking team led by Steve Doerner rose to the occasion, taking full advantage of the great raw materials provided by the 2008 vintage.Tel. (503) 375-3068; www.cristomwines.com
