The 2007 Pinot Noir has a well-defined nose of bilberry, damson and a touch of soy: a little broody perhaps. The palate is medium-bodied, fine tannins, an attractive sense of transparency in the middle, leading to a mulberry-flavored, earthy off-dry finish, perhaps less fruit intensity than other Marlborough Pinots. Give it 2-3 years in bottle because it could surprise you. James Healy and Ivan Sutherland continue to produce some wonderful Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, their flagship Section 94 seeming to appear on just about every wine-list of any self-respecting restaurant in New Zealand. Ivan opened vintages that I did not taste on my previous trip to Marlborough as well as recent releases.Importer: Ex Cellars Wine Agencies, tel. (617) 876-5105 (MA) or (805) 686-9153 (CA)
