The 2006 Llanos del Almendro is sourced from a single site and aged for 18 months in 50% new French oak. Opaque purple-colored, it delivers a bouquet of wood smoke, vanilla, violets, incense, black cherry, and blackberry. Layered and intensely flavored, it is the best balanced of these wines, and should evolve gracefully for 5-7 years. Its drinking window will extend from 2012 to 2025.
Dominio de Atauta’s first vintage was 2000. The estate vines are 100% Tinto Fino, 90% ungrafted, with most over 60 years of age. It is farmed using biodynamic principles although it is not certified.
