A big, massive wine, the 2016 IX Estate has a level of depth and concentration that succeeds in nearly burying the big, imposing tannins that are present. Super-ripe red cherry, kirsch, mint, rose petal and spice infuse this decidedly unctuous, full-throttle wine from Colgin. Quite primary at this stage, with little in the way of aromatic development, the 2016 is going to need quite a bit of time to be at its very best.
