Proprietor Doug Tunnell's 1997 Pinot Noir Cuvee du Tonnelier is a beauty. Asian spices, violets, and red berries are found in its enthralling aromatics. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully ripe, and luscious, its character is packed with sweet red and black fruits amidst hints of licorice. Like most of Oregon's 1997 Pinot Noirs, this wine's finish reveals copious tannin. However, unlike the majority of its brethren, this offering appears to have the requisite depth of fruit to offset them.
