The 2005 Syrah Turner Vineyard (a sandy, rolling hillside site) was aged on its lees for 12 months with no sulphur additions, fining, or filtration. Its black/ruby/purple color is accompanied by gorgeous aromas of acacia flowers, charcoal, licorice, blueberries, and blackberries. Full-bodied and rich, with beautiful structure, moderately high tannin, and well-integrated acidity, it will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age, and should keep for 10-12 years.
I tasted through a number of the 2006 single vineyard cuvees, and they all looked slightly lighter, but very fruit-forward. They will probably be more charming in their youth, without the weight, density, and structure of the 2005s.
