Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Chassagne Montrachet 1Er Cru les Caillerets has a sophisticated and tensile nose, shimmering citrus fruit, granite and smoke aromas, a little terse at first, it soon loses its aloofness and becomes very engaging. The palate is very well balanced with a silver bead of acidity that cuts through the lightly honeyed fruit. There is impressive focus here, likewise impressive length, completing this class act. It may warrant a higher score with further bottle age. Tasted May 2016.
