The 2001 Shiraz Old Adam is a selection from the two finest blocks of the Shiraz vineyard (planted in 1992 and 1996). Yields from these young vines are a whopping 6-7 tons of fruit per acre, a remarkable amount given the complex flavors. Loads of pepper, blackberry, and cassis jump from the glass. There is very good concentration (in spite of the high yields) in this fruity, exuberant dense ruby/purple-colored Shiraz. Aged completely in American oak, it is a full-throttle, heady, boisterous offering meant to be consumed over the next 4-5 years. This is a fairly priced offering from an excellent Langhorne Creek winery.Importer: The Ravensvale Group (Jane Delaney), Greenwich, CT; tel. (800) 580-0052
