The 1997 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard is powerful (14.2% alcohol), but it reveals its personality in a subtle manner. At first tight, with coaxing the bouquet offers up scents of lemon butter, tropical fruit, and flowers. It is a full-bodied, gorgeously pure, nicely-textured, fruit driven Chardonnay that is classically California in proportions, but elegant and intense. It should drink well for 4-5 years.
