An attractive, bistro-styled red, the 2006 Syrah du Maroc(called SYROCCO in the USA and TADEM elsewhere), exhibits notes of licorice, smoked herbs, and spicy red and black fruits. This sensual, seductive, medium-bodied wine is aged in equal parts tank and small barrels. Meant for early consumption, it is a good value, and worth a search of the marketplace. The newest wine produced by Alain Graillot and his son is a 4,000-case cuvee called Syrocco in the United States’ market, and Tadem elsewhere in the world. This is a Vin de Pays Syrah coming from Morocco. Graillot’s 2007s reveal the herbaceous, peppery, spicy style of this vintage without the depth one finds in the 2006s and Graillot’s brilliant 2005s.Importer: A Christopher Cannan Selection, various American importers including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel.
