This wine is made from the oldest vines—most of which were planted 100 years ago—in the Scarrone Vineyard. The 2016 Barbera d'Alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia is an outstanding wine in my estimation. I love the depth and sheer dimension that it puts so effortlessly on display. You get powerfully concentrated black fruit that ultimately finds smooth balance against the fresh acidity and soft tannins of the grape. Luca Currado tells me it was impossible to make a bad wine in the classic 2016 vintage. He must be right.

Concentrated and fluid at once, this red features a combination of sweet plum, blackberry, dark chocolate and spice flavors, all backed by vibrant acidity and refined tannins, allowing the finish to build in a relaxed, lilting manner.
