The 2004 Altanza Reserva Especial was sourced from the Montecillo Vineyard. Malolactic fermentation occurred in French oak followed by 18 months of aging. This single vineyard offering exhibits an already complex bouquet of toasty oak, graphite, exotic spices, incense, violets, and blackberry. Smooth, layered, and plush, this lengthy, impressive offering is an excellent expression of Rioja’s great 2004 vintage.
