The 2006 Valnuevo is a single vineyard (La Portilla) offering whose vines are over 70 years of age. The wine spent 16 months in new French oak. Opaque purple in color with a brooding bouquet, it, too, will require at least 8-10 years of cellaring. Layered, plush, and succulent but totally undeveloped, it seems to have the balance to eventually become something special. However, patience is required!
Bodegas Tardencuba is a 33 acre estate whose Tinta de Toro vines are all fermented with native yeasts and bottled without fining or filtration.
