Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. Paler in color that Prieur’s Grèves 1er Cru ‘11, Chanson’s Beaune Grèves has an open, generous and well-defined bouquet, with leafy and gravel scents emerging with time, dried flower’s unfurling later. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannins, moderate depth and an earthy, masculine finish. This feels a little robust and it does lack persistence, but possess charm. A“trad Burg,” you might say.
