Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, the 2014 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru from Olivier Leflaive offers comparatively powerful fruit on the nose, with touches of orange rind and spice, honeysuckle scents that emerge with time. The palate is bright on the entry with crisp acidity, green apple mixed with lime and fresh pear rendering this Corton-Charlemagne a bit...obvious. I can see the commercial appeal, although it is not the best in show.
