Consistently one of the Cotes de Blaye’s finest efforts (as well as a good value), this blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon possesses a dark ruby/purple color in addition to sweet aromas of sandy, loamy soil interwoven with black cherry and currant fruit. It offers delicious fruit, supple tannin, low acidity, and a broad, savory mouthfeel. This serious wine is accessible now, and should age for 5-7 years.

Lots of dark chocolate, leaves and blackberry on the nose. Full-bodied, with racy tannins and a long, delicious finish. Needs a bit more in the center palate to be outstanding, but very good. Best after 2008. 3,750 cases made. -JS
