The 2008 Coda is a blend of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot aged in 45% new oak for 14 months. Medium ruby-colored, it displays aromas of cedar, spice box, violets, black currant and blackberry. Medium to full-bodied, spicy, and ripe on the palate, it has enough underlying structure to evolve for 1-2 years. This medium-long effort will provide pleasurable drinking through 2018.
The Cadence winery is located in the South Park region of Seattle. It is owned and operated by husband and wife team Ben Smith and Gaye McNutt. All of their wines are sourced from Red Mountain fruit selected from several of the most prestigious vineyards. Cara Mia is their estate vineyard planted in 2004.
