Medium ruby-colored, with a simple, jammy nose of red fruits, this spicy, peppery, herbal Gigondas needs to be drunk young. Anticipated maturity: now-1999. Last tasted 6/96.
This estate has impressive hillside vineyard sites in addition to very old vines, so the potential for brilliant wines is obvious. To date, the wine has been an old-style, slightly oxidized Gigondas that is heavy and forceful. The 1995s may be a sign that more freshness and an earlier bottling are making some inroads at this property.
