The 2006 SINGULARIS BRANCO is a blend of Antao Vaz (40%)?and Arinto (60%), bottled in May/June of 2007. Paulo Laureano says that he expects the Antao Vaz to provide “tropical fruitiness, some orange peel and structure,” while from the Arinto, they look for “mainly mineral character and freshness.” The Antao Vaz was fermented in French oak and spent eight months on the lees. It shows less depth, and has too many of the same nuances and funkiness of the Dolium, probably some reductive aromas. Some brightness rears its head now and then, however, perhaps thanks to the Arinto. It gives some evidence that there is a little fruit hiding under the layers of, well, everything, and some of the funk blows off. The Dolium in this vintage is a more structured wine, with more upside, but this is more fun to drink. Drink now-2009. You may see EBORAE VITIS E VINUS on some of the labels for this wine, as on the Dolium. That was a prior company, as I understand it.
