The 2007 Lagrein Riserva Gries emerges from the glass with an exciting melange of crushed rocks, violets, cassis, blackberries and rosemary. The Gries shows marvelous intensity in its varietal dark fruit and fabulous elegance in its overall textural and structural elements. This is a superb Lagrein. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2017. The most impressive wines I tasted this year from Alto Adige came from Cantina di Terlano. Simply put, these are reference point wines.
