The 1998 Costieres de Nimes (a blend of 65% Syrah, 25% Grenache, and 10% Mourvedre) exhibits a delicious, peppery, black raspberry and cherry-scented bouquet, not much complexity, but an elegant, medium-bodied, fruit driven palate with no hard edges. Consume it over the next 2-3 years. This wine is an excellent value. FRAN KYSELA, 130 Windy Hill Lane, Winchester, VA; tel. (540) 722-9228; fax (540) 722-9258
