The 2010 Coleccion Mazuelo has a lifted, ripe nose of macerated black cherries, crushed violet and blueberry that blossoms nicely in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with a succulent entry that segues into a pure, smooth, quite sensual finish of black cherries and cassis that fans nicely across the mouth. This lovely, “sexy” Mazuelo is irresistible now, although I am intrigued to see how it will age. Drink now-2018.
The wines from Dinastia Vivanco are all intriguing Riojas, although personally I feel that the quality does not quite justify the prices.
