The 2012 Duas Quintas is part of our vertical. It is a blend of Touriga Nacional (45%), Touriga Franca (35%) and a kitchen sink of other grapes for the remainder. About 20% of the wine was aged in 225-liter barrels (90% French and 10% Austrian) ranging from three- to five-years-old, and 30% in 6,000-liter tonels for 14 months. In this rather revealing vertical, this is another regular Tinto that is showing rather brilliantly. Suddenly, the fruit is very expressive, irresistibly delicious and fresh. Supporting that exuberant fruit, the structure shows plenty of power and the texture is caressing. Showing every sign of being a cellar candidate, it is still approachable just now with air and it is very much going in the right direction. I'm not sure it will age as well, say, as the 1994, but it is sensationally delicious in its youth--the fresh, exuberant fruit makes a statement.
