The 2011 Ciliegiolo Maremma Toscana impresses for its energy, vivacity and focus. Sweet red cherries, flowers, mint and spices are all layered together beautifully in this vibrant red. The 2011 has maintained great freshness and energy for the year. This is a terrific showing. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015.
Sassotondo is another of the Tuscan properties that routinely turns out fabulous wines but seems to get little recognition. The estate has made a speciality of Ciliegiolo, a native red variety that is not seen too often.
