The 2002 Mas de Maha is an unusual blend of 40% Tempranillo, 40% Mourvedre, and 20% Grenache. It is unquestionably the finest Tempranillo-based cuvee I have ever tasted from Paso Robles. It exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, an attractive bouquet of smoky black fruits, earth, pepper, and herbs, and more acidity than its siblings. Medium-bodied, elegant, and pretty, it is the type of wine that comes alive when drunk with food. Enjoy this classy curiosity over the next 3-4 years.
