The 2013 Corton-Charlemagne “Le Charlemagne” was taken directly from barrel that was due to be racked the following week. The bouquet is well defined, the one new barrel (out of four) just showing a little prominently at the moment, although that will be subsumed in time. The palate is candied on the entry with plenty of brioche, almond and vanilla notes. This is perhaps just a little too sweet on the finish for my liking, although that should calm down once in bottle.
