The saturated dark ruby/purple-colored 2000 Syrah exhibits aromas reminiscent of bacon, black raspberries, and blackberries. On the palate, it is broad, offers good intensity, and displays dark raspberry, black currant, and spice flavors. Regrettably, its tangy, sharp (acid?) finish prevented a higher score. The second Syrah for this cult winery, and again it is bursting with rich, black fruit flavors. A lovely, sweet nose shows mixed berry, gingerbread and vanilla scents, which lead into sweet, appealing fruit.
