Collard’s 2007 Costieres de Nimes Les Galets Rose – Syrah, with a splash of Grenache – seems to have hoarded fresh, tart red raspberries and herbs with abandon and delivers them in a lip-smacking, refreshing, glossy, seemingly light (despite 13.5% alcohol) package. Suggestions of salt, stone, and roasted meat emerge as you work this around in your mouth – and there is something thought-provoking as well as sensually delightful about a rose that clings this persistently to the palate.
