A wine that seemed to be suffering from recent bottling was the 2004 Perrin et Fils Chateauneuf du Pape Les Sinards, which was hard, tannic, tough-textured, and just austere and closed down. Some minerality and red and black fruits could be coaxed from the glass, but little more. I will have to take another look at this at some other time, but it was difficult to understand.
