The 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition is a dark plum/garnet-colored effort boasting a big, sweet nose of earth, candied black cherries, currants, roasted herbs, and spice box. It is a pleasant, ripe, fleshy, medium to full-bodied 2001 with low acidity as well as a generous finish. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. Readers should be seeking out the wines of this serious estate as prices do not yet reflect the quality. An Alain Corcia Selection, various American importers, including Charmer Industries, NY; tel.
