Perhaps it is too soon to see noticeable improvements under the new ownership of the Louis Roederer firm, but tasting through this wine portfolio was not much fun. The whites are all relatively monolithic. The most interesting white wine is the very good 1995 Hermitage Cuvee Marquise de la Tourette. The light to medium straw color is followed by aromas of white flowers, honey, and a touch of pain grille in the background. It is a dense, medium to full-bodied wine with good chewiness and texture. The wine's low acidity and fleshy, up-front appeal should win friends over the next 4-5 years.
