According to Pierre-Yves Colin, his parcel of 1997 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets produced low yields, yet it displayed little assertiveness, concentration, and body. With coaxing, it reveals delightfully sweet almonds and minerals. On the palate, this delineated, elegant, and light-to-medium-bodied offering has mineral and faint earth-like flavors. If it fills out over the next year or two, my score will appear conservative. Anticipated maturity: now-2004.
