The folks at Conterno Fantino do not make a so-called base or classic Barolo. This wine takes its place. Like a base Barolo, the 2015 Langhe Nebbiolo Ginestrino sees fruit vinified separately from various vineyard sites across the appellation. These parcels are assembled in wood barrel just after malolactic fermentation. Some 35,000 bottles were produced. This beautiful Nebbiolo shows an encouraging level of richness and succulence that comes straight from the primary purity and the youthfulness of the fruit. This is a centered wine with boisterous fruit flavors, followed by noble tannins and a silky finish. The wine is less formal compared to the top-shelf Barolos, but it offers plenty to admire nonetheless.
