This small 2,000 case winery has a 404-year winemaking history. This offering is bottled unfiltered, and represents a classic, pure expressions of Tuscany. Monolithic, and, as the French would say, sauvage (wild or uncivilized, but not in a pejorative sense), the 1997 Le Terrine, a blend of equal parts Sangiovese and old vine Canaiolo, exhibits black fruits, foresty, earthy notes, as well as a foursquare personality. It possesses abundant concentration, body, and density. It may improve with another year or so of bottle age.
