Produced from yields of only one ton of fruit per acre, from 4-year old vines, this is the most French-like Shiraz I have ever tasted from Australia. It reminded me of one of the great single vineyard Hermitages from Chapoutier. An elegant, inky/purple-colored Shiraz, it offers gorgeous aromas of scorched earth, blackberries, bacon fat, and a hint of violets. Great minerality and tremendous intensity are backed up by remarkable structure as well as definition. This wine was a revelation in my tastings. Sadly, little is available (less than 50 cases), but, hopefully, in future vintages more will emerge. A tour de force in winemaking. Anticipated maturity: now-2013.Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; tel. (888) 472-5283
