The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Le Due Sorelle blasts from the glass with an intense concoction of dark red and black fruit, smoke, leather and licorice. The Due Sorelle shows serious depth and equally intense tannins in a big, powerful style that needs time to fully come together. The huge, building finish is decidedly muscular. This will never be a finessed wine, but it will please those who like masculine Brunello just fine once it settles down a bit. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026.
