Marc Sorrel was able to bottle his white 1996 Crozes-Hermitage (made from 25 hectoliters per hectare) without filtration, something he does routinely with his Hermitage wines. Made primarily from Marsanne, with 10-15% Roussanne added (depending on the vintage), the Crozes-Hermitage offers an intriguing roasted nut, Fino Sherry-scented nose, medium body, and ripe fruit. Underlying acidity gives the wine good support. It should drink well for 5-6 years. Importer: New Castle Imports, Myrtle Beach, SC; tel. (803) 497-8625
