Very bright, pale yellow. Piquant aromas of lemon drop, grapefruit rind and white pepper. Juicy and lean, with rather austere flavors of lemon, minerals and quinine. Pure and varietally accurate but I found myself wishing for a bit more flesh and flavor intensity.

The sparkling, delicate minerality and snappy fruit flavors for which Elgin is known come into full force here, with a balance of acid and puckering fruit offering a clean quaff. It could use a touch more roundness but overall, has a graceful character that distinguishes it from other overwrought New World Sauvignons.——S.K.(3/1/2008)—— 86
