The 2008 Carmignano Riserva comes across as quite dark and brooding. An array of dark fruit, iron, smoke, scorched earth, tar and smoke emerges from this rustic Carmignano Riserva. Some rough edges remain, but with some aeration and similarly hearty food, the wine should drink well. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.
Pierazzuoli is a bit of an inconsistent producer across the board, but the best wines merit consideration.
