This famous negociant/vineyard owner, founded in 1797, has made very fine 1992s. The big wines, such as the top premier crus and grand crus, spend a year in 100% new oak and have considerable lees contact for the first 7-8 months, although there is no stirring, or so-called "batonage" practiced. Latour's 1992s will be released in late fall, 1993.
White wines from the appellation of Beaune are rare. Latour's 1992 Beaune Blanc exhibits a floral, honeysuckle-scented fruitiness, medium body, excellent ripeness, low acidity, and a fleshy, heady finish. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. Louis Latour is represented by different importers in each state.
