Fontanabianca has created an elegant and tightly packaged Barbera. The 2015 Barbera d'Alba Superiore shows the exuberance and the fruit-forward nature of the grape, but it does so with measured restraint. This wine never goes overboard, nor is it too jammy or fruity. Instead, you are treated to a very pleasant stream of dried cherry and dark plum aromas. Distant accents of spice and Spanish cedar add more weight and importance to the bouquet. This Barbera offer a dry finish that is bright but not too acidic. The effect is balanced and very drinkable.
