A blend of equal parts barrique-aged Nebbiolo and Barbera, the outstanding 1998 Monpra exhibits a dark ruby color with purple hues. A sweet perfume of red and black fruits, smoke, licorice, and flowers jumps from the glass. On the palate, it is Burgundian-like in its medium-bodied, plush, round, beautifully pure style with excellent texture.
