The 1994 Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Sommelongue exhibits a delicious kirsch, peppery, berry-scented nose, and soft, medium-bodied, richly fruity flavors. Made from surprisingly modest yields of 40 hectoliters per hectare, this is a tasty, mouthfilling, well-made Cotes du Rhone that should drink well for 4-5 years. What a joy it is to find fine wines such as this that offer relief from the sticker shock of today's high wine prices. It is an excellent value.Andre Brunel is one of the most enthusiastic and talented winemakers in the southern Rhone.
