The superb 1994 Gruner Veltliner Loiser Berg offers up a gorgeously fragrant, penetrating nose of ripe fruit and floral scents, followed by excellent, full-bodied, surprisingly intense flavors, and a dry crisp finish that lasts for 30+ seconds. This is a beautifully made wine that admirably displays what heights the Gruner Veltliner grape can attain in the hands of a top winemaker. One of Austria's most renowned producers, Brundlmayer's 1994s offer intense levels of fruit in a dry, medium-bodied, highly extracted, gorgeously well-delineated style. The only sweet wine is the 1994 Riesling Auslese Zobinger Heiligenstein. The beautiful purity and precision of the Brundlmayer wines make them among my favorite Austrian offerings.
