The ruby-colored Maranges Les Fussieres exhibits blackberry aromas and a concentrated, medium-bodied, thick and tangy flavor profile packed with cassis, cherries and minerals. It will be at its best between now and 2000. Note: The price for this wine was not available because the domaine's US importer does not purchase it. The wine may, however, be available through other sources, particularly the gray market.
The bottling line was churning away when I visited this estate in January and many of the wines I tasted had been bottled but were not yet corked. Bernard Morey's reds offer excellent concentration, sweet fruit and dark colors.
